How Google Can Use RRO to Deliver a True iMessage Competitor

Not a lot of talk has been going on about how Google has implemented RRO into the M build of Android, and even though this is a very early and hidden “feature” (if you can even call its current implementation a feature), I still think it has huge implications[Google] can build a new app, or even just use their pre-existing messaging service, Hangouts, and force OEMs to make that the default messaging app, but allow them to change the icon and skin the app using the RRO framework to better match the UI on that particular phone.Do you guys think this could work?
